Welcome to The Gabby Project! Below is my story laid out in a photo-series.

My hope is that sharing my story will encourage others to do the same. I hope that I can work to ensure that what happened to me will not happen to anyone else. I share these photos because it is essential to understand the story and the girl behind it in order to understand the passion behind and mission of The Gabby Project. It helps connect the story to the physical person who experienced it. It makes it real. Domestic Violence is a hard thing to talk about, but it is essential to have these conversations in order to spark change in our communities. 

Every time I stand up and talk about domestic violence, there is a 15 year old girl standing with me holding my hand. She is watching me and wondering how on earth we got here. She is proud of me and I am endlessly proud of her and the look in her eyes says “we did this. we built this. we made it out.” And she’s right.
